PREPARING FOR YOUR FIRST WAX
DOS & DON’TS OF WAXING
Do
- Take two Advil one 1/2 hour before your appointment. Better safe than sorry.
- Consult Mother Nature before booking your first waxing appointment. Schedule an initial waxing appointment several days after menstruation, when you are less sensitive to discomfort.
- Wear comfortable cotton panties to avoid irritation if it’s your first time.
- Limit caffeine intake on the day of your waxing service. Caffeine stimulates the nervous system which increases sensitivity.
- Inform your Wax Specialist of any medications you are taking, such as antibiotics, Accutane, or topical creams, such as Retin-A.
Don't
- DON’T exercise 24-48 hours after waxing.
- NEVER wax a new area for the first time right before a big event. You can’t always anticipate your skin’s reaction and you wouldn’t want to spoil an important day.
- DON’T shave between waxing appointments. This makes the hair more resistant to future waxing.
- DON’T expose skin to sun or tanning beds for 24 hours after your wax.
- DON’T take a hot bath/shower for the first 24 hours. A shower with cool water is ok.
- DON’T apply moisturizer before any wax service.
- DON’T apply deodorant to newly waxed underarms.
- NEVER wax an area after using any type of peels.
If you are not sure about any DOS & DON’TS, please inform our wax specialist.

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS OF WAXING
ITCHING
We know it’s hard, but try not to scratch those newly waxed areas. Because the skin will be sensitive, you must be careful not to cause further irritation by scratching. We recommend soothing the area by using an aloe vera gel or our hydrojelly mask treatment.

WHAT IS WAXING ALL ABOUT?
The types of wax used are soft wax, hard wax, and sugar. Soft wax is applied and removed by using a cloth or strip. Hard wax is applied and allowed to cool down, once it has cooled down the wax becomes hard which is why a strip is not required. Sugar is applied when the esthetician warms the paste between their fingers and it is then applied and removed.

WHAT IS SUGARING?
Sugaring is a safe, natural alternative to waxing. Sugar paste for hair removal dates back as far as 1900 B.C. and was first discovered to have originated in Egypt. Sugaring is 100% natural. No chemicals. No preservatives. No irritants. It is simply made out of Sugar, Water and Lemon Juice. Which makes it ideal for sensitive skin. The sugar paste is a natural exfoliate that only adheres to dead skin cells and hair. Since the Sugar DOES NOT remove any live skin cells, any discomfort will subside much more quickly than with wax.
SUGARING VS WAXING
Both methods are very similar, but different techniques of applying and removing the wax, make all the difference. Many people perceive the sugaring technique as less painful, since only the hair is covered from the sugar paste and is not combined with the skin.
Benefits of Sugaring
ALL NATURAL INGREDIENTS
Sugar wax only consists of natural ingredients water, sugar, and lemon. It is highly recommended for the most sensitive skin.
NO RISK OF BURNING
Sugar paste is only warmed to about body temperature, which results in no risk of burning.
NATURAL EXFOLIANT
Since the ingredients used in sugar are all-natural, which is more gentle on your skin and acts as a natural exfoliant.
